Responsible Gambling
How to keep betting in its place, the signs worth taking seriously, and where to get free confidential help.
If you need help right now: the National Problem Gambling Helpline is free, confidential and
open 24 hours a day, every day. Call or text 1-800-522-4700, or text 800GAM. You do not
have to be in crisis to use it.
Betting is entertainment, not income
Every site we rank is designed to make money over time from the people using it. That is the business
model, not a secret. Treating a deposit as the price of entertainment, the way you would a ticket, keeps
the maths honest. Treating it as an investment does not.
You must be 21 or over to bet on sports in Indiana.
Set your limits before you start, not after
- Decide the amount first. Pick a figure you would be comfortable losing entirely, and treat it
as spent the moment you deposit it.
- Use the operator's own tools. Deposit limits, loss limits, session-time reminders and cooling-off
periods exist on most sites. Setting them while you are calm is the point.
- Never chase. Increasing stakes to recover a loss is the single most reliable way to turn a small
loss into a large one.
- Keep it separate from money you owe. Rent, bills and credit should never be in play.
- Do not bet to escape. Stress, boredom and low mood are poor reasons to open an app.
Warning signs worth taking seriously
- Betting more than you planned, more often than you planned.
- Hiding how much you bet, or lying about it to people close to you.
- Borrowing, selling things, or dipping into money set aside for something else.
- Restlessness or irritability when you try to stop.
- Betting affecting your work, sleep, studies or relationships.
One of these is worth a pause. Several is worth talking to someone on the list below.

Self-exclusion and blocking
Most operators let you self-exclude for a fixed period or permanently, from within your account
settings or by asking support. Indiana also runs a voluntary exclusion program covering the state's
licensed casinos and sportsbooks, administered by the Indiana Gaming Commission.
Worth knowing: self-exclusion at a state-licensed operator does not reach international sites, which
sit outside that framework. Blocking software such as Gamban or BetBlocker covers the gap by blocking
gambling sites at the device level.
Protecting people under 21. If you share a device, use a password manager rather than saved
card details, and set up parental controls. Never leave a betting app logged in on a shared phone
or tablet.
What we do on our side
- Every ranked listing carries a 21+ note and a helpline number.
- We do not publish bonus figures we have not confirmed, because an inflated offer is a reason to
deposit more than someone intended.
- We do not use urgency or scarcity tactics to push signups.
If you think something on this site pushes too hard, tell us through the
contact form.
